Manny Lehman on his ICSEĈ97 Recognition

By Lainie Berger

When Professor Lehman found out he had won the award, he was, of course, pleased. He "had been confident that Lee would get it," but was greeted with a pleasant surprise.

About ICSE 9, his strongest memory is, he says, "The strength of the reaction to Lee's paper and my response--how well the latter was received. The "debate" between Lee and myself appeared to divide the conference down the middle which suggested that there were some very fundamental issues at stake.

"That so many participants appeared to support my viewpoint," was the most memorable reaction to the paper. The reaction covered "both what was said and what was not said but came out in subsequent individual discussions."
