Larry Constantine, Adjunct Professor, Information Technology, University of Technology, Sydney (Australia) and Director of Research and Development, Constantine & Lockwood, Ltd., is widely recognized as a pioneering methodologist whose original contributions include basic concepts and techniques forming the foundations of modern software engineering practice. His current research and consulting focuses on improving software usability through model-driven design methods. In a career spanning four decades, he has had over 150 papers published plus 16 books, including the 1999 Jolt Award winner, Software for Use (Addison-Wesley), The Peopleware Papers (Prentice-Hall, 2001), and the classic text with Ed Yourdon, Structured Design (Prentive-Hall, 1979). He is an award-winning designer whose work has gained international recognition (Performance-Centered Design Competition 2001) as well as a respected teacher. He has taught in 17 countries around the world and his books and papers have been widely translated.


Lucy Lockwood, President, Constantine & Lockwood, Ltd., is an internationally respected consultant and trainer who draws on nearly 20 years experience in programming and project management. Her practice centers on software usability and technical teamwork. She is co-developer of usage-centered design and co-author of Software for Use (Addison-Wesley, 1999), winner of Software Development magazine's Jolt Award as the best book of 1999. A highly regarded trainer and top-rated speaker, she has taught around the world and has keynoted major conferences, including Performance Support and On-Line Learning '99. She is author of more than a dozen published papers on user interface design, Web development, technical teamwork, and project management and co-author of the award-winning book, Software for Use (Addison-Wesley, 1999). She has been a Visiting Scholar at the University of Technology, Sydney, and has chaired or organized major conferences, including forUSE 2002, First International Conference on Usage-Centered, Task-Centered, and Performance-Centered Design, and the Enterprise Applications Development Conference.
