Student Volunteer Applications

Dates

There are no dates associated with student volunteer applications. If you are interested in being a student volunteer, contact Pilar Suter at the e-mail address below.

Goal

The student volunteer program is an exciting opportunity for students from around the world to associate with the top researchers and practitioners in software engineering. In return for about ten hours of their time, student volunteers receive a complimentary registration and other benefits.

Scope

In the past, volunteers have helped as reporters for the ICSE Window on the World (WOW) daily newsletter and assisted the organizers with running the conference smoothly.

The student volunteers chair will coordinate the student volunteers and work as editors of the daily newsletter.

Student volunteers need to be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate program at the time of the conference.

How to Submit

In brief, the volunteer application should include the student's contact information and evidence of full-time enrollment. Also, see letter below.

Acceptance Notification

By the early registration deadline (4/12/2002).

Letter to Perspective Student Volunteer:

All student volunteers must commit to working two full days during the conference week (Saturday-Saturday).

In return you will receive a "Student Volunteer" T-shirt, free conference registration (Wednesday-Friday) and admittance to all receptions as well as one full day Tutorial or Workshop attendance (subject to space limitations).

In addition, assuming there are extras, at end of the conference, you will receive a conference bag and/or proceedings.

The ICSE Conference Committee has decided that all Student Volunteers must register at our web site www.icse-conference.org. once they have been approved. You do not need to fax in a payment form, unless you are attending additional tutorials or workshops beyond the complementary one.

After registering, please tell us any days you prefer not to work, or cannot work.

Also, please inform us if there is a full-day Tutorial/Workshop or two half-day Tutorials you want to attend.

We know that some of you will need an Invitation Letter for the Visa request. If this is the case, please send e-mail to Ginger Ignatoff with the following information:

  • Name and mailing address for person needing visa invitation letter
  • Name, address and fax number of US Embassy or Consulate where the application is being made.

If you have any additional questions, feel free to contact me.

With all due regards,

Pilar Suter
