Formal Research Demonstration Proposals

October 16, 2000 for formal demonstration proposals.
December 1, 2000 for notification.
February 1, 2001 for final copy of two-page formal demonstration description.

Formal research demonstrations enable conference participants to view research systems in action and to discuss the systems with the people who created them. These formal demonstrations are intended to show early implementations of novel software engineering concepts.

Formal research demonstrations are suitable for mature presentations that can be communicated effectively to a large audience using projection technology. Each presentation will be 30 minutes long.

Each formal demonstrator must also display their system or a poster of their work in the exhibition hall.

Commercial products will not be accepted as formal research demonstrations (instead, see exhibits). We consider any system that is at least six months away from appearing in a commercial product as a research system.

Review Process

The research demonstrations committee will review each submission using the standard ICSE criteria: originality, importance and generality of contribution, soundness of rationale or demonstration, quality of written and graphic presentation, and appropriate consideration of relevant literature.

We will not provide any computing equipment such as computers, disk drives, or monitors. We will, however, provide basic electronic projection capabilities during the formal demonstration.
